Sakura Matsuri

Spring seems to be finally coming around (although now that we've said this aloud, we're sure the unpredicatable snow will come back with a vengeance) - and Phillyist can't wait to find some excuse to spend time out of doors that doesn't involve either going-to nor coming-from the office. Enter the Subaru Cherry Blossom Festival, a two week festival celebrating Japanese culture and, of course, those little pink flowers.

The festival begins this weekend with a black-tie Gala at the Union League on Saturday, then continues at venues around the city with events including: taiko drumming, sake tasting, story hours, tea ceremonies and a visit from the Cherry Blossom Queen herself. Cherry Blossom fans can also visit the trees in Fairmont Park, or help to sponsor The Japan America Society of Greater Philadelphia's Cherry Tree Planting Project.

Vist the Subaru Cherry Blossom Festival website for a complete listing of events.
