Yo, Philly in the News

  • The missing person case of Michelle Nau keeps getting more grim and complicated. Now police suspect she was murdered by a bouncer who himself was also shot and killed on March 1st, a crime for which they have no suspects.
  • After a series of writing workshops, students at Frankford High School contributed poems, short stories, essays, and song lyrics to an anthology entitled What We Want to Tell You..., a book which has been published and is now gaining some fame around the country. Other schools are interested in starting similar projects, and this specific book is being used in a graduate social-work course at Catholic University in Washington, D.C. Cool stuff.
  • That second grader who brought crack to school, as well as the classmate who ended up tasting some of it when it was passed around, have both transferred to new schools so they can start fresh. Probably a good idea.
  • You smokers watch out when you're driving through Doylestown Township. A supervisor there who's particularly displeased by people chucking their spent butts out their car windows is trying to raise the fine for such an act to $1,000. Ouch.
