Just over a day till the weekend starts officially. We can't wait. No really. Thus, the headline.
Gothamist: If Snapple is set to be NYC's official beverage, can we get Mystic? It's like Snapple, only not as good. Since, you know, that's how some (very mean) people (with whom we disagree completely) see Philadelphia?
LAist: How can Phillyist resist a post about the Boss? Especially if it includes vintage video?
SFist: Apparently, Oakland mayor Jerry Brown has huge hands.
Austinist is full of profiles (complete with downloads!) of artists who will be playing at this year's SXSW. This is a link to the Gogol Bordello write-up, but we really suggest spending some time browsing our sister -ist, if you're at all interested in the music scene.
Shanghaiist: New York can handle its blackouts better than Shanghai can, it seems.
DCist: Either the criminals in the D.C. area are finding interesting crimes to commit, or someone needs to teach the D.C. police about dangling participles.
Londonist: This headline gave us pause. Is Mick back on the smack? Oh wait. We get it now.
Torontoist: Somehow, Toronto plans to prevent birds from flying into buildings. We just don't get how.
Houstonist presents: the intersection of corporal punishment and capital punishment.
Chicagoist: There's a reason the acronym is one letter away from the word "idiot."

yet another *ist round up? cripes...
Every day, jillY. Every day.
We do this because the other -ist sites have really great content that you'd miss if you didn't read them all. The weekly all-ist round-up is great, but each -ist submits its own pieces, so it's the work they think is best.
And listen, if you don't like the post, you can always scroll past it.
It's a daily post, jillY.
Oops, the other Jill got in ahead of me there. Sorry for the echo chamber.
I only took a look over here since someone is complaining about it on The Gothamist Fourm. I do like the daily -ist roundup as it is quite intresting as a supplemental companion to Gothamist almost like those little filler newspaper stories or those wacky little stories Chuck and Sue have fun with at 11:33 during the last 90 seconds of the 11 PM newscast right before the Tonight Show comes on.
Hopefully you guys will get some more local content, although I'd probably just stick to Gothamist in that case since the only thing I look at here are the -ist roundups.
Toby: To be fair, the one complaint you've linked to there is actually from mid-February, which was during a down-time when the editor-ship of the blog was being passed over to us, and which was also before we'd even started doing the daily Elite -ist features.
I like to think we do have a lot of local content here, what with the daily Philly news posts, the many previews of local events (including music, film, and comedy), the interviews of local folks, the reviews of our favorite things in the city, etc., etc.
