It's National Women's History Month. Here's a few local ways to commemorate the women who shaped our world:
3/7 (and subsequent Tuesdays in March): Spotlight on Women in the World Lecture Series at University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology. This free, four-part series will focus on women throughout history, and from all over the world. For more information, call 215-898-4890.
3/8: Women in Politics: Progress and Persistence in Africa. The International House presents Janet Sawaya, who will speak about her efforts to bring women into political forums in Malawi, Tanzania and Nambia.
3/12: Don't Let Your History Be a Mystery networking event at the Art of the Avenue Gallery.
03/30: The League of Women Voters invites you to Meet the Women of Philadelphia City Council. They also provide a list of milestones in the fight for women's suffrage, including the date they signed that lovely 19th Amendment into law.
All month long: The National Liberty Museum will be giving visitors an activity booklet highlighting influential women, and each weekend, they will have special women honoring crafts available for their younger visitors. (We're hoping someone makes us a Susan B. Anthony made of popsicle sticks).
