Grand Theft Bookmobile

IMG_0165.jpgPhillyist remembers watching the RIF ads between Saturday morning cartoons as a young tyke and thinking what a wonderous invention the bookmobile was. In our eyes, a van that delivered books was more impressive than one that delivered ice cream. (We were nerdy even then.)

Which is why it absolute broke our heart to read on Philebrity that the Mobilivre Bookmobile was stolen from 49th and Baltimore on Monday night. Phillyist knows many people are lost and confused while waiting for the next Harry Potter book fix, but really, resorting to bookmobile theft is not the answer.

If you see a vintage airstream trailer full of books driving around, please contact Mobilivre and let them know.

Update: Thanks to Mike VanHelder for letting us know that (a) it was the towing van, and not the trailer that was stolen and (b) the van has been found.

Correction: The airstream trailer was not stolen. It's safely wintering in Jersey. It was the van that tows the trailer that was taken.

Update: The van has been found! It was trashed and isn't currently driveable, but at least it wasn't chopped up and sold for parts in Camden.
