Frugal in Philly - 2006 is So Punk Rock (Although Clearly We Are Not)

MoneyFrugal in Philly is a weekly celebration of all things Philly that are fun, frugal (costing $10 or less) or free! Stop here each week to see what Philly's got to offer for those of us who haven't quite mastered the art of becoming Independently Wealthy (although believe us, we're trying).

Featured Pick of the Week: Holidays in the Slush
R5 Productions is offering not one but two all-ages punk rock shows this week at the First Unitarian Church (22nd and Chestnut Streets) - named, very cleverly, Holidays In The Slush Day #1 and #2. Each show features five acts from all over the world, including some acts (The Boils and Mischief Brew) from our own fair city. Holidays in the Slush #1 begins at 7:30PM Friday night and has an admission fee of $10. Slush #2 begins at 2:30 PM the next day - and has a slightly less frugal fee of $12; however, we did notice that participating band, Dillinger Four, promises "melodic naked punk mayhem" and "psychotic naked behavior from Patty", and we all know nudity will cost you extra. See R5 Productions' Shows page for more information and a full listing of the bands.

Phillyist recommends going if you can - Sheik gives great show; and you'd better believe that we are currently cursing our suburban workplace for being too far from University City to make it there and back on our lunch break else we'd be right in the front row. Go and enjoy him in our stead, if you can. Just be sure to RSVP first.

Baby It's Cold Outside
