Writing for an online journal, one does not get to bring mighty machines to a screeching halt by shouting "Stop the Presses!" when we come upon a new piece of information; which is sad, really, because it always looks like so much fun when those fast-talking, wise-cracking, fedora-wearing journalists in the movies do it. Some times Phillyist really wishes we were still in the days when the world was black and white. Or that we were fast-talking, wise-cracking ,journalists. Or, at the very least, that we had a fedora. We look good in a hat.
Why all this rambling, you might ask. Well (a) we've just had a very large coffee despite the fact that it's quite late in the evening and (b) after this week's Frugal in Philly post went up, we were informed that Cereality (3631 Walnut Street) will be providing free coffee and tea from 8 AM - 5 PM on New Year's Day. Phillyist isn't sure how we missed this news, as drinking coffee and wearing pajamas in public (as the Cereality staff are wont to do) are two of our favorite past times. And since we can't yell "Stop the Presses!" we thought we'd just post this addendum, thereby giving you a frugal New Year's Day alternative well away from the hoopla of the Mummer's Parade...and us something to do as we wait out these caffeine jitters.

Cereal bar?
That is the stupidest thing I have heard this week, other than the normal garbage that comes out of Genn "Hurricane" Schwartz's mouth on the joke of a weather forecast and ABC 6's Action News theme.
I would have loved to been on the ground floor of this scam, just think of how much money you can make off of selling cereal to stupid hipsters who lack the skills to go to the supermarket to buy a box of cereal and a bottle of milk.
