Phillyist suggests you take Wednesday off (or at least leave work/school early) and head over to the Institute of Contemporary Art in West Philly - preferably via bike, jet-pack, or Aston Martin - because the ICA is screening a James Bond Movie Marathon from noon to midnight. They claim this has something to do with their current exhibition - Rodney Graham: A Little Thought. But figuring out the connection between Bond and Graham is a little tricky. Graham is a Canadian artist who's best known for his upside-down pictures of trees (see above), as well as his odd films, like the one in which he had himself recorded biking through a German park on acid. James Bond is, well, James Bond - invincible super-spy and irresistible sex symbol. So...they're both in movies. And they're both kind of...trippy?
Anyway, the point is, it's Bond, all day! A couple of the best Bond films are included in the marathon (From Russia With Love, Goldfinger), as well as, unfortunately, one of the worst (the original Casino Royale, which is technically not a Bond film, anyway, but more of a parody of Bond films; Phillyist suggests you sneak out and take a long dinner while this catastrophe is playing), and the whole thing finishes up with Bond Quizzo, a Bond booty raffle (which we suspect is the Bond movie memorabilia kind of booty, and not the kind of booty you might think of first when you think of Bond), and coffee and dessert. Meanwhile, DJ Reggie Revolver will fill the place with Bond movie music - and music by Rodney Graham, of course (yes, he dabbles in rock, too). If you're a Penn student, all of this is free with your ID (!), but regular schmucks can get in, too, for no more than the General Admission fee of $6.
