The Wooster Collective - an on-line repository of street art - recently posted this picture of a gentleman vandalising a Philadelphia location with cartoon characters all playing with Sony PSPs. (We don't recognize this location, but we believe we've seen similar figures near South Street Tattoos.) Apparently, strikingly similar art work has been appearing in New York, Chicago, and San Francisco as well.
We do not doubt that this is some strange ad campaign - the pitch meeting for which almost certainly included the phrases "hip," "urban" and/or "edgy." We just wonder who - if anyone - has ever made an informed holiday purchase based on a bit of graffitti?

That's on the corner of 5th and Monroe. The owner of that building also owns another building on Bainbridge that he allows people to advertise on for a fee.
This gross campaign is currently smothering Los Angeles too. Shitty.
