Check out World Cafe Live on Wednesday, November 30 for a potpourri the Delaware Valley's best local performers. Bruce Torres , who you might know as the super cool guy who hosts WCL's Monday night open mike, is headlining downstairs -- and rightfully so. He's a dynamo singer songwriter and was recently named "one to watch" by Hooters magazine (and yes, they do have a magazine, and yes, you can buy it outside of the restaurant).
Torres is bringing some friends with him, too:
- The Adam Monaco Band. You might have seen these guys already at the Borgata where they opened for Blondie and the Bacon Brothers. They've also played with David Berkeley, The Alarm and Jill Sobule and are regulars at Grape Street, North by Northwest, North Star Bar and Tin Angel. This event is also the band's CD release party.
- The Silence. This trio has been around since their high school days. That was 15 years ago, and they've only improved with age. They're a staple of the bar music scene and have opened for acts like G. Love, Spacehog, Collective Soul, the Samples, the Ocean Blue and The Connells. Even if you can't make it to World Cafe Live, pick up their latest album, Find Your Way Home. It's a taste of summer for the cold days to come.
- The Smyths. The Partridge Family has nothing on this sister team. Their first foray at World Cafe Live was being voted best act at that Monday open mike, and they've been playing at WCL ever since. Their music is rooted in the singer song writer tradition, and don't be surprised if Torres steps in for a song, or vice versa.
Not bad for $12.
