The Grand Sphere of History

topright-sphere.jpgPhillyist likes to think we're one of the cool kids. (I mean, we blog. That's cool..right? Right?) But we have to admit we've been known to roll a 20-sided die from time to time. And it is perhaps because of this that reading about J. Nathan Matias's Philadelphia Fullerine project on Grand Text Auto gave us a giddy little thrill.

This giant geodesic sphere is not, however, designed to determine your attack success against ogres. Rather, it is a hypertext art installation that uses images and sounds to relay the history of 19th Century Philadelphia (you can check out some of the audio online). Each triangle tells the story of the time period, and relates thematically to the triangles that surround it. Pretty nifty.

We kind of wish we could roll it, though. A giant polyhedral like that is just begging for a 19th Century Philadelphia RPG.
