I've never shopped at a store with so many rude customers. The workers at Trader Joe's often bend over backwards to help customers. Yet I have never seen such snide, selfcentered, and thoughtless customers in one place. My hats off to the employees of all Trader Joe's.

Ah, but I miss the days before they had price scanners at Trader Joe's. And the cashiers would read the prices out loud as they entered them. There was something quirky about that system. But they've grown (and we have them on the east coast now), so I guess that system doesn't work all that well.

That, and they've got one of the best pay rates, benefit plans and working environments in the business. You have to work hard when you work at TJ's or Aldi's, but you're well-compensated for it.

You forgot to mention that sometimes they sing-along to the in-store music over the loud speakers. I often wonder at just how friendly they are at Trader Joe's. I suspect it has to do with the fact they spend their days surrounded by various kinds of chocolate.
