Free Library Launches New Look On Web Site

092705_library.jpgMatt at Philly Future pointed us to the Free Library of Philadelphia web site, which is now sporting a new look.

In addition to just looking snazzy, the site is also offering better access to the library's vast collection of books, films, tapes and naughty pictures. OK, we kind of made up the naughty pictures. Although they do have stuff like National Geographic, which has "educational" naughty pictures. If you don't mind, we're just going to leave this grey area and push ahead.

The new library web site still sports all of its usual information, like the schedule for its excellent author events series (Salman Rushdie was there last night, Bruce Feiler arrives today). One new wrinkle, though, is a collection of audio files playable on your computer, iPod, or iPod Nano (which you better just be twisting all around in your hand when you use it, because you can apparently do that). As Matt points out in his post, however, the library hasn't exactly made navigation easy.

Still, they're getting there. Sure, that's someone else's slogan, but the Free Library is actually going through with it. Plus "Explore their past, experience their future" didn't sound as good.
