Frugal in Philly: Punk Rock for the Parsimonious
Frugal in Philly is a weekly celebration of all things Philly that are fun, frugal (costing $10 or less) or free! Stop here each week to see what Philly's got to offer for those of us who haven't quite mastered the art of becoming Independently Wealthy (although believe me, we're trying).
Featured Pick of the Week:
Punk Rock Double Feature at International House:
On Saturday, August 27th, IHouse is offering two counter-culture classics for the price of one: Penelope Spheeris' documentary, The Decline of Western Civilization and the nihilistic sci-fi comedy, Repo Man. For a mere $6 ($5 if you're a member, student or senior), you can spend Saturday evening getting your fill of early 80's anger and energy...and blache with embarassment at what we once thought was fashionable. The show starts at 7PM - and you can either pick up tickets at the Box Office up to one hour before showtime, or order them in advance from Ticket Web.
International House is located at 3701 Chestnut Street, and is a great venue for seeing both classic cinema and quirkly, cult films on the cheap. For more information about other upcoming film events at IHouse, visit their website.
Ongoing:

Show up at 5PM to register for your 15 minutes of turntable fame, and to get some tips from graduates of the Girls DJ Collective. Otherwise, just show up at dance, dance, dance the evening away. The party runs from 5-7 PM at the Rotunda (4014 Walnut Street). Cost: Free!
