Welcome to Frugal in Philly, a weekly celebration of all things Philly that are fun, frugal (costing $10 or less) or free! Stop here each week to see what Philly's got to offer for those of us who haven't quite mastered the art of becoming Independently Wealthy.
Featured Pick of the Week:
Adult Swim: Longing to escape the August heat? Why not dive into some cool, chlorinated water and do a few laps? You don't need to belong to a private swim club to get the relaxing, refreshing exercise you desire...but nor does resorting to public pools mean you need to endure the kicking, rambunctious children in the water with you. (Phillyst knows that while the laughter of frolicking children is sweet - a rogue boogie board in the head is never pleasant!) Many Philadelphia area public pools have designated adult-only swim times. The Herron Pool at 2nd & Reed Streets (215-685-1884) has adult-only hours every Monday and Friday night from 5:30 - 7:00 PM. The 39th & Olive Street Pool tells us adults swim every night at 5:00. Call your local rec-center to find out when adult-swim can happen for you: but act fast....city pools close at the end of August.
