Waiting for the Moon: An American Love Story - F. Scott Fitzgerald of The Great Gatsby fame and his wife Zelda are portrayed here in this world-premier musical at the Lenape Regional Performing Arts Center in Marlton, New Jersey. 10 for 10: A Spark Showcase Festival - Ten local theater companies present ten ten-minute plays, ranging from musical comedy to all-girl action (not that kind, you pervs). Through July 31 at the Mum Puppettheatre, 125 Arch Street, Philadelphia. For tickets, see their website.
The Tenth Annual Delaware 10-Minute Play Festival - We can’t say it any better than their website, which promises: “20 Plays in 4 Nights!!! 5 Different Plays Each Night!!! Drinks! Beer! Popcorn! Comfy Seats! Air-Conditioning! Pre-Show Live Music!” Sounds tempting, right? Tickets are $12 per performance, or $35 for all four nights. Performances run through July 29 at 8 p.m. at the City Theater in Wilmington.
The Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival - The festival, at De Sales University in Center Valley, is only producing one actual Shakespeare show (The Merchant of Venice), but don’t let that stop you: it looks to be a great time all-around. Love’s Labour Lost - Delaware has a Shakespeare festival too, but unlike its Pennsylvania counterpart, activities and center around one specific play. Love’s Labour’s Lost is a comedy full of romance, disguise, and celibacy. We’re serious. Tickets are $7, and the play runs through August 6. For more information, see their website. The Delaware Shakespeare Festival is presented on the grounds of Archmere Academy, five miles north of Wilmington on U.S. Route 13, just before the PA border and is easily accessible by car or SEPTA.
Menopause: The Musical - The name says it all, doesn’t it? Shows at the Society Hill Playhouse, Tuesday through Saturday at 8 PM, Saturday and Sunday at 2 PM, and 5:30 PM on Sunday. Tickets are $45.
