Look Pa, A Nekkid Man!

Some Phillyist writers aren't down with the public nudity, but some of us dig it - if only because it makes for bizarre local news. Take, for instance, what happened today at 8th and Market:

It happened around 4:45pm in the area of 8th and Market streets. Details remain sketchy but at least one person, described as a naked man, was shot after he took a police cruiser and drove it a block along Market Street. The man was rushed to Thomas Jefferson Hospital suffering multiple gunshot wounds.

Market Street has been shut down between 8th and 10th streets. In addition to the shooting, there was an accident at 9th and Market streets. At least one person was injured during that ordeal. Finally, one person was injured when a police cruiser struck a NJ TRANSIT bus.

Described as a naked man, eh? Well, that's vivid.

Other sources indicate that the naked man in question was putzing around the area (hey, how else are you going to stay cool during an Excessive Heat Advisory?) and got into an argument with a cop, whom he then attacked. The cop then shot the naked guy, who jumped into the police car, took off, and ran smack into a NJ Transit bus.

Either way, we're relatively certain the officer won't want that car back, what with the naked guy's sweaty undercarriage making direct contact with the seat and all.
