Well, it's a good week to enjoy all the activities the city has to offer, or maybe stretch out reading that new Harry Potter book, because, when it comes to television, things are looking positively dismal. Aside from the wonders of Shark Week and the always recommendable Philadelphia Stories (WYBE, Tuesday and Saturday, 10 pm), the pickings are slim. Two more reality shows premeire this week, proving that the reality trend will not dry up until it has exhausted every last possibility several times over.
First, on Wednesday night, TLC searches for a third band member on R U the Girl with T-Boz & Chilli (UPN, Wednesday, 8 pm). Although the existing band members are certainly much more attractive than those on Rock Star: INXS, we feel we should not be subjected to watching another group try to replace a dead band member. In order to keep our reality TV quotient at an appropriate level, we'll probably be skipping this one in favor of NBC's latest reality show, The Law Firm (NBC, Thursdays, 8 pm). According to NBC, this courtroom competition series features "real cases", "real judges" and "real juries." We'll be watching to discern whether or not the strikingly hot lawyers (and their various body parts) are also real.
