Curt Schilling has become the Larry Brown of Baseball. Moving from town to town, Curt often contradicts himself in order to look out for, well, himself. Curt made headlines again on Tuesday morning. As reported on Blinq, he called into WEEI, Boston's sports talk radio station, to criticize Philadelphia radio hosts who criticized former Phils manager and current Red Sox manager Terry Francona."They are some of the biggest pieces of trash," Schilling said of the WIP hosts. "These guys were some of the worst people, and are some of the worst people I've ever met in my life. They have no business being in sports. They have a sports station that tries to be what 'EEI is, and they suck."
"Just gutless people," Schilling remarked. Schilling singled out Macnow, Angelo Cataldi and Howard Eskin in his comments.
Schilling was sticking up for his current manager, Terry Francona. Schilling belives that Francona was unfairly raked over the coals during his time in Philadelphia, for everything from his calm demeanor to his peculiar choice of in-game clothing.
Oh, and there was the terrible product that Francona helped put on the field. Francona's Phils finished in last place twice during his four-year tenure in Philadelphia. Francona won 285 games in Philadelphia. He lost 363. That's a .440 winning percentage, for those without a calculator.
Even without Terry's terrible numbers, radio hosts are paid to drum up interest with often extreme arguments. Heck, you can get very basic and say that they're paid to make asses of themselves from time to time.
Do you think Curt's made his post-retirement plans yet?

This is the best photo choice that I've seen yet on Phillyist. It applies to just about any story.
